Indeed I see that new earth
Indeed I walk upon it
No fear for tomorrow
for upon these polluted shores will wash up gold, silver
all the avian wings your chainsaws sank asunder
all the flowering grasses never returned to the peoples plundered
Life after life after life
you will be given all you need
and more
I no longer have space to contain the old gods
Their demands have been swept from my house
It’s autumn, it’s time to clean with a cinnamon broom
There is a season for sage brush
Says the mother of the west:
What god would punish forever
his lover
This is an old way
and I despise it
I need a new way
and you will incise it
Pond of fire, puddle of wrath
My new gods laugh at your inconsistencies
They taught me I don’t have to hoard
any more
This new earth will be big enough
to contain
even
me
Cut into my heart your:
river’s bed
fish’s fin
leaf’s notch
deep wound
Indeed I am reborn
Enfleshed I am restored
Intimate I am coming
Out of deeds you are reborn
Out of flesh you are restored
Out of time
you
are
coming
